It’s the World Against ME (and FM)

Sometimes I really do feel like the world is against ME/CFS patients, on a mission of total annihilation through a campaign of denial, dissemination of misinformation and perpetual mistreatment. While  writing up a post seeking some volunteers for this here crib, I did a search for a quick list of autoimmune conditions. One of the first search results in the list was  for the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association’s List of Diseases. I noticed immediately that while they had ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia doubled asterisked (**). This is the very important “fact” they wanted to “**NOTE:   Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue are listed, not because they are autoimmune, but because many persons who suffer from them have associated autoimmune disease(s)

Wait. What? I know it can be tough to keep up with the times, but it’s been a few years since it’s become an established fact that these illnesses ARE AUTOIMMUNE diseases in their own right, but this supposed Association that’s supposed to be supporting people with autoimmune conditions in the US doesn’t even fucking know it? That’s right, people! Welcome to America, where ignorance reigns and what you hear on Dr. Phil is law, even to care providers 😦

I don’t think I’ll be relying on this organization to provide up-to-date info on any topics for this blog, on that you can certain.

  1. I hear you.

It’s in the same boat with the people who claim they have ME and not CFS: we KNOW nothing except symptoms – what other disease has so many people looking in so many different places in tiny ways, so much crap science (supplements? really? our bodies evolved to need massive quantities of what, you say?).

Everything helps a little bit – nothing fixes anything.

The CAUSE – the only critical part – is missing.

Ebola got fixed almost immediately after they figure out what CAUSED it.

AIDS got fixed almost immediately after they found HIV.

Polio has been solved – they know what causes it.

They’re all trying to cover the fact that they have no idea what CAUSES this illness by pretending it doesn’t exist, or only exists in the hysterical minds of middle-aged women (sound familiar?).

Stomach ulcers were fixed immediately when a brave Australian researcher proved, by taking it, that H. pylori CAUSED them.

    I’m waiting.

Meanwhile, I HAVE TO IGNORE this kind of garbage – it doesn’t help find the cause.
